5 questions you should be asking your boudoir photographer

Boudoir photography studio located near Altoona, Pennsylvania.

So you’re doing a boudoir shoot for the very first time and you’re kind of nervous shitting your pants a little! Maybe even thinking “What the hell did I get myself info?!”

Well, don’t worry we all get nervous trying something new and excited, especially something like a boudoir experience that will completely push you out of your own comfort zones.

If you have already chosen your boudoir photographer, or you’re in the process of choosing one here are 10 questions you could ask them to make sure they are the right fit for you!

  1. How far do you book in advance. This is a really great start up question to ask your photographer because not everyone realizes most of us book our 3-6 months in advance, so if you’re interested in a session you need to plan ahead. Most of the time we are already booked for the coming month! Now, most of us love trying to fit you into our schedules so don’t feel discouraged if they are booked if you are serious about it!

  2. Do I need to bring my own outfits? Most boudoir studios have a least a few items if not more in a client closet provided for you already, though most ladies love shopping for at least 1 or 2 outfits!

  3. Do you provide hair and makeup? I know my studio provides with a pampered hair and makeup session at my partnered salon to make you feel super relaxes and at ease knowing someone else can glam you up for the day!

  4. Do you specialize in a certain type of boudoir? There are soooo many boudoir photographers out there with different styles, so its best you find someone with the right style for you! You don’t want to end up booking with someone who shoots edgy and moody if you’re looking for a bright and airy style photographs. It just won’t make you happy with your end results!

  5. Do I need to know posing before I come? Here is the tricky question because some boudoir studios absolutely tell you to check out Pinterest and practice in the mirror. I, myself do not advise that because it will only make you feel more nervous and more discourages. Also, at the end of the day the poses you’re seeing are probably more than likely nothing we will use in our session. My posing completely goes off of your own body type, your style, and your personality so my advice with my own boudoir session is always to just relax, read my prep guide I send you and trust the process that I got you with posing. You don’t need to think about that at all, unless you have a certain look in mind we can try for! \

So thats my little piece of advice if you’re searching for your perfect photographer! Hope this helps! And as always let me know if you want to talk about how we can customize your dream session together! You can always email me at kelsey@hollowphotos.com.
